Supervisor Donald P. Wagner to Amend AB 368 For an Anaheim Hills Veterans’ Cemetery
SANTA ANA, Calif. (May 30, 2019) – This week, Third District Supervisor Donald P. Wagner announced he will contact state legislators to amend AB 368, swapping Irvine’s Amended and Restated Development Agreement (ARDA) for the Anaheim Hills site. Aging Orange County veterans are still without a local cemetery site with the closest location in Riverside County. Orange County has offered a workable 283-acre cemetery site in Anaheim Hills that will benefit both veterans and non-veterans. “Our veterans have been promised a cemetery site for years. Unfortunately, Irvine has seen political gridlock on this issue since 2014. I urge our legislators to move forward with our most viable option, the County’s Anaheim Hills location, and finally give our deserving veterans a site,” said Supervisor Don Wagner.
The Anaheim Hills site is supported by veterans’ organizations, including the Veterans Alliance of Orange County. To expedite the cemetery building process, Supervisor Wagner encouraged residents to contact their state legislature and request that funds are allocated to the Anaheim Hills site.
