Reward Helped Bring in Tips, Now Suspects Arrested in Aiden Leos Case
(Orange County, California) – One day after Aiden Leos’s nationally-televised memorial service, an arrest was made for his murder. The six-year old Aiden was riding with his mother on his way to kindergarten when he was fatally wounded on the 55 freeway in Orange.
Supervisor Wagner expressed his gratitude personally and on behalf of the community to the California Highway Patrol, which took the lead in the investigation, and to District Attorney Todd Spitzer and his investigators who have also worked tirelessly on the case.
“This senseless crime tore at the community’s heart and brought it together in outrage and sheer determination to find Aiden’s killers,” said Supervisor Wagner on Sunday afternoon. “The CHP and District Attorney’s office have been relentless in the pursuit of justice for Aiden. I congratulate them on these arrests and thank them for their dedication to the people of Orange County.”
The suspects, according to CHP, were arrested at their home in Costa Mesa. Many tips came into the CHP in response to the half a million-dollar reward, which grew substantially and immediately after Supervisor Wagner put up the first $50,000 to match the family reward.
“The growth of the reward amount was very gratifying to see,” added Supervisor Wagner. “After I announced my matching reward, my colleague, Supervisor Foley, immediately jumped in, and individuals and business soon followed. This community came together in a gratifying way. If you commit a crime here, we will do everything we can to hunt you down and see justice done.”
Supervisor Wagner said, "My staff and I have been in touch with the family. They are handling this tragedy with grace and courage. I believe they are very grateful to the community for the emotional support and the generous response to the reward. In addition to the CHP and District Attorney, I want to thank everyone who came forward with information; the family and our community deserve closure to this horrific event. Justice will be done for Aiden Leos and his family."
